From the moment you enter the grounds through the handsomely detailed gates you will feel the stately grandeur and majesty of this pre-Civil War mansion. In the magnificent entry hall you will begin to appreciate the meticulous detail that went into building this plantation home. On the north side is a huge elegant ballroom with twin marble fireplaces, exquisite peer mirrors, a square grand piano, original Victorian furniture and fine art pieces. The decor evokes a feeling of the splendor of a by-gone era. On the south side is a delightful and charming parlor filled with deep rich Victorian color.
Just beyond
is the gracious dining room with its hand carved sideboards, rosewood
dining chairs and grand chandelier. A step away is the original plantation
office/library with rare books and hidden cupboards. Next to it is a
sunporch with its comfortably cushioned cane furniture inviting you to
sit down to relax or read. Up the
mahogany bannistered stairway from the entry hall, you will visit eight
bedrooms on the second and third floors. Each unusually large bedroom has
been decorated with differently styled Victorian antiques. Individual
bathrooms with their Victorian wallpaper, marble floors, marble showers
and antique fixtures compliment each bedroom. When you step
off the wraparound veranda onto the grounds, you will observe a wide
variety of trees and shrubs, some rare to the area. The tailored gardens
and landscape on the surrounding eighteen acres, offer a sense of peace
and tranquility from a period of over one-hundred and thirty years ago.
